Mark your calendars and plan to join us April 29th – May 1st for ATL + WACC 2026!
This conference is a 2 ½ day virtual event bringing together Washington’s most beloved annual conferences—SBCTC’s Assessment, Teaching, and Learning (ATL) Conference and the ELC’s Washington’s Canvas Conference (WACC)—to explore the intersections of assessment, teaching, learning, and technology.
This year’s theme, “Heart. Mind. Community.” focuses on supporting one another, growing together, and building a stronger human-centered working and learning ecosystem. Come engage with colleagues from across the state and leave with fresh ideas and practical strategies that make a difference for students—and the people who serve them.
Why did we merge?
Planning a statewide conference takes significant time and resources. Merging ATL and WACC lets us pool effort, lower costs, reduce attendance barriers, and strengthen connection across our system.
What can you expect?
Inclusive Access. We’re keeping the conference online to ensure participation is accessible and affordable for everyone.
Streamlined Registration. We’re offering user-friendly registration to save time, money, and paperwork.
Deep Dive Sessions. We’re planning focused pre-conference sessions for deeper learning on selected topics.
Hot Topics. We’re digging into key topics in Higher Education—Exhaustion & Burn Out, Inclusive Pedagogy, Generative AI, and Digital Accessibility.
Inspiring Keynotes. We’re featuring high-quality speakers with timely, Washington-relevant topics and practical takeaways.
Community Connections. We’re developing virtual and in-person opportunities to connect and network.
We’re committed to you!
Continuous Improvement. We’re committed to learning from your feedback and annually refining the conference to meet your needs.
Inclusive and High-Quality Learning. Our goal is to deliver meaningful, engaging, and accessible learning and networking opportunities for all participants.

We’ll follow up in a few days with step-by-step participant registration instructions for you to share with your campus, so watch for more registration info coming soon. Please contact Alissa Sells at asells@sbctc.eduwith questions.
The ELC Professional Development Work Group is excited to announce a new direction for the eLearning Council’s annual professional development conference — WACC 2025. We’re still a teaching, learning, and technology conference, but this year, we’re expanding beyond our Canvas roots to explore two emerging areas impacting higher education.
What’s new this year?
Depth rather than Breadth. We’re diving deep into Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the recent Title II changes regarding accessibility, with thoughtfully designed sessions and a day of learning devoted to each topic.
Inclusive Hands-on Learning. We’re moving the conference online for a more accessible and affordable learning experience, featuring workshop-style sessions with dedicated time to practice and apply new skills.
Self-Care. We’ve tentatively scheduled the conference for February 25th and 26th, so you can sit back and relax over Spring Break.
Institutional Registration. We’ve eliminated the need for multiple individual sign-ups by offering an institutionwide registration option that streamlines the process, saving everyone time and paperwork.
Why the changes?
The conference planning team is committed to continuously learning from your feedback, growing with each event, and transforming WACC to deliver inclusive, high-quality, and relevant learning opportunities. To build a conference experience that meets your needs, we focused our decision-making on providing relevant learning, inclusive access, affordability, and opportunities for practical application.
Please share with all who may be interested in attending …

Empowering Education Through Generosity
The evolving dynamics of higher education and generosity play a pivotal role in empowering learners,, educators, and institutions. Generosity is the sharing of knowledge, sharing of power, and the co-creation of policy and process with learners and colleagues. It is the heart of open education, equity, diversity, and inclusion, genuine collaboration, and flexible, successful, technology-enriched teaching and learning. It is the heart of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. Join us to envision and actively engage with a flexible and adaptable generosity-oriented education model that empowers us, our colleagues, our institutions, and most especially our learners to succeed.
Day 2| Brinda Sivaramakrishnan
Tapping into Collective Consciousness
A missing feature in mainstream academia is acknowledging the empowering aspect of community healing that is foundational in most worldviews and cultures. The challenging work of dismantling harmful institutional precedents and building strong campuses calls for a space to reflect. Join us for a gathering that provides time to honor our individual experiences, engage in deep rest, and restore our energy reserves with breath and meditation techniques coming from an ancient lineage. Enjoy this hour empowering with a facilitator who is authentically connected to the lineage and ceremony behind the techniques.

We have just posted the recordings from the 2023 WACC conference. All are fully captioned and should be accessible to you with the exception of the Cidilabs Presentation, which is available but not yet captioned. All recordings are organized alphabetically within their track – Keynote Addresses, Accessibility, Equity, Flex Mode, Open Educational Resources, Other, Pedagogy/Andragogy, and Technology.
The recordings can be found here, or simply navigate to WACC Recordings –> 2023 Conference Recordings from the home page.
Registered WACC 2023 attendees, please find your WACC 2023 schedule, with details and associated Zoom links, on your live sched.com application here, https://wacc2023.sched.com
The schedule for WACC is linked below. There may be a bit of juggling or adjusting before the conference, but this should be pretty close to a final version.
We have a great conference planned, including session tracks on technology, equity, pedagogy/andragogy, and everyone’s favorite track – “other”. (Actually, the “other” tracks look pretty cool. I might meet you in one of them).
In addition to the fabulous sessions, we have two great keynote speakers, a Canvas Roadmap session, where Instructure gives you a sneak peek of what you can expect from Canvas in the future.
Finally, don’t forget the social aspect. Now that we are all let out of our houses, this is chance to reconnect with old friends, make some new friends, buttonhole that super presenter you were so excited by, and network with your peers from the CTC system and beyond. In addition to the breakfast, lunch, and extended breaks, we’ve got a social hour planned for Thursday after the conference. Look for updates on entertainment and noshing opportunities in the near future.
We’ll send updates out, but also add information on our FAQ page, such as the best swag ever (at least it better be – I browbeat a committee to choose them).
Question: Where can I find a list of this year’s keynote speakers, general sessions, presentations, and their descriptions?
The WACC 2024 schedule is live! Find a full list of session dates, times, titles, descriptions, locations, Zoom links and more on the WACC 2024 Sched site. We recommend downloading the Sched mobile app to your phone before the conference.

Caleb will also discuss how Canvas can support ungrading and share a bibliography of additional resources to help you dive more deeply into this emerging topic.

As you know, the situation in our area about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve and change. The host college for the upcoming WA Canvas Conference, Tacoma Community College, has been monitoring the situation closely, and follows Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department’s guidelines for schools and colleges. As of March 6th, the Health Department does not recommend schools to close or cancel activities. Currently, no schools in Pierce County have confirmed cases of COVID-19. Up north, Public Health – Seattle and King County have released guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
TCC is following the recommendations of Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, and as of today, the Health Department is not recommending canceling classes or events or closing the college.
Upon taking these considerations and the fact that the Canvas Conference brings in hundreds of people from around the state, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the event. We know this poses an inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for this. We simply wish to take precautionary health measures.

It’s time to register your campus for WACC 2025!
This year we’ve eliminated the need for multiple individual sign-ups by offering an institutional registration option that streamlines the process, saving everyone time, money, and paperwork. For just $599, your campus gains access to two full days of affordable, high-quality, fully online professional development focused on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and Accessibility. This all-access pass provides exceptional value—equivalent to about the cost of three individual tickets in previous years—making it more affordable than ever for your campus to participate.
If you’d like to attend WACC 2025, please connect with your eLearning team, teaching and learning center, or office of instruction to express your interest and let them know it’s time to register your campus.
