WACC 2024 Keynotes

You won’t want to miss these empowering WACC 2024 keynotes with Dr. Jenni Hayman and Brinda Sivaramakrishnan!

Empower – verb /ɛmˈpaʊər/: the act of inspiring or motivating individuals to believe in themselves, their potential, and their ability to effect positive change

Washington’s Annual Canvas Conference (WACC 2024)

Join us in-person March 27th – 28th at Tacoma College or virtually in Zoom for two days of EMPOWER-ing! keynote presentations.

Day 1| Dr. Jenni Hayman

Headshot of Dr. Jenni Hayman smiling. Jenni wears glasses and has light eyes, very short grey hair, and a fair complexion.

Empowering Education Through Generosity

The evolving dynamics of higher education and generosity play a pivotal role in empowering learners,, educators, and institutions. Generosity is the sharing of knowledge, sharing of power, and the co-creation of policy and process with learners and colleagues. It is the heart of open education, equity, diversity, and inclusion, genuine collaboration, and flexible, successful, technology-enriched teaching and learning. It is the heart of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. Join us to envision and actively engage with a flexible and adaptable generosity-oriented education model that empowers us, our colleagues, our institutions, and most especially our learners to succeed.

Day 2| Brinda Sivaramakrishnan

Headshot of Dr. Brinda Sivaramakrishnan smiling. Brinda has dark eyes, long dark hair, and an olive complexion.

Tapping into Collective Consciousness

A missing feature in mainstream academia is acknowledging the empowering aspect of community healing that is foundational in most worldviews and cultures. The challenging work of dismantling harmful institutional precedents and building strong campuses calls for a space to reflect. Join us for a gathering that provides time to honor our individual experiences, engage in deep rest, and restore our energy reserves with breath and meditation techniques coming from an ancient lineage. Enjoy this hour empowering with a facilitator who is authentically connected to the lineage and ceremony behind the techniques.

What are you waiting for? Submit today!

The WACC 2024 proposal deadline has been extended to January 26th!

The 2024 WACC conference theme is EMPOWER! and we’re excited to learn about how you are empowering yourself, your students, and your fellow instructors and staff. The conference will be held in-person at Tacoma Community College and virtually in Zoom – Wednesday and Thursday, March 27th – 28th, 2024. Due to feedback from last year’s attendees, we strongly encourage you to present in person.

All are welcome to present, so come share your amazing work! This includes faculty, staff, librarians, IT folks, instructional designers, admins, access services, student services, veteran’s services, tribal liaisons, students, and the list goes on and on. The first round of proposal approvals is already underway, but you still have an opportunity to have your topic considered.
